Guangzhou, China – The Citizen Movement for Change (CMC) – China Chapter, held its first official meeting in Guangzhou, marking a significant milestone in the establishment of the movement’s presence in the People’s Republic of China.
The meeting was opened by the Acting Chairman, Mr. Forebore JK Sheriff (Uncle George), who underscored the importance of creating the China branch as part of CMC’s broader vision to drive transformation in Liberia after the 2029 elections.
Mr. Sheriff noted that Liberia has witnessed governance under the two dominant political parties – the Unity Party (UP) and the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) – without experiencing the meaningful change citizens had hoped for.
“We gave the UP twelve years, then six years to the CDC, and now the UP is back in power. Over this time, we have not seen significant changes in the lives of ordinary Liberians,” Mr. Sheriff stated. “It’s time to give this movement, under the leadership of Hon. Musa Hassan Bility, the opportunity to move Liberia forward.”
The Acting Chairman highlighted Hon. Bility’s proven track record, both as a private citizen and in his current role as the Representative of District #7 in Nimba County.
“Within a short period, Hon. Bility has implemented tangible development projects, including the construction of roads and bridges in District #7 and across Nimba County. Imagine what he could achieve if given the opportunity to serve as president – Liberia would be on another level,” Mr. Sheriff emphasized.
Other members echoed similar sentiments. Mr. Smith Kamara, a participant in the meeting, shared his personal journey of becoming a supporter:
“I used to dislike the name Musa Bility, but the first time I saw the bridge he built in Nimba, my perception changed completely. From that day, I developed respect for him and decided to support him. This will be the first political party that I will officially register with,” Mr. Kamara stated.
The CMC China Chapter also discussed strategies to strengthen the movement’s presence among Liberians in China, with a focus on recruiting members to surpass the 50-member threshold. The branch expressed hopes of hosting global CMC leadership in China in the near future.
The Citizen Movement for Change is led by Hon. Musa Hassan Bility, who has vowed to bring practical solutions and accountable leadership to Liberia. The formation of the China branch represents a growing international network of supporters committed to the movement’s vision for national transformation.
